Playing the long game: 10 year case reviews using synthetic bone grafts

Join Dr Peter Fairbairn, ahead of his AEEDC appearance, as he shares insights from over 8,000 surgeries using synthetic bone grafts, highlighting long-term case outcomes and success stories

Playing the long game with 5 to 10-year follow-ups, Peter will showcase the benefits of using resorbable grafts for predictable long-term success.

Additionally, Dr Fairbairn will also review and discuss recent developments in bone research within the dental field, with a particular focus on the new area of immunology-related research which examines how the host response to foreign body introduction can drastically influence healing times.

A few words from Dr Fairbairn:

"I've been exclusively using synthetic grafts for over 20 years and I'm pleased to have now a group of cases which were recorded in detail at the time and now have results 10 years later. These cases provide an excellent platform for understanding the benefits of resorbable materials, with the total turnover to host bone within 12 months, which can then be remodelled and adapted long-term without any interference from remnant graft particles. I've not used a traditional membrane in any of these cases, or in any patient I've treated for the past 30 years - they aren't necessary with the modern graft materials at our disposal.
