Staff from EthOss will be taking on one of the worlds’ greatest endurance challenges by running the Athens Marathon on 12th November 2017.
Running for Macmillan Cancer Support, EthOss Managing Director Dr Paul Harrison will be joined by Ben Harrison, Graphic Designer, and Dr Minas Leventis, Research Manager, for this challenge.
It will be the first marathon for both Paul and Ben, and they could have chosen an easier race to start off! Often described as the toughest major marathon race, due to the steep incline which runs for much of the course length, the Athens Classic Marathon is a major event with over 43,000 competitors taking part each year.
The course is based upon the legend which gives the race its’ name – it is the route which Pheidippides, a messenger in Ancient Greece, ran from the battle of Marathon to Athens to announce the Greeks’ victory over the Persians.
Greece is an important market for EthOss – it was the first market where the product was launched outside of the UK and it has been a massive success. EthOss is available in Greece through our exclusive distributor Ariston Dental.
Looking forward to the race, Dr Paul Harrison commented “I have always been fascinated by the history of the Athens Classic Marathon and the opportunity to run (hopefully not walk) the race alongside some of my colleagues, and for such an amazing cause, is fantastic. Cancer is something which touches all of us at some point, and I cannot think of a better cause to be running for. We would really appreciate any donations which people can give us.”
