EthOss® signals Middle-East growth with UAE approval

EthOss® Regeneration Ltd has received regulatory approval for its primary product, EthOss®, to be sold in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The approval means that EthOss® is now freely available to dentists and patients across the UAE, a country of nearly 10 million people including important international hubs such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In conjunction with the approval, EthOss® Regeneration has also signed up an exclusive distribution deal for the market with Sim Drug Store LLC.

EthOss® has proved hugely popular with dentists across the world due to a number of benefits to both end-user and patient.

The unique composition of EthOss®, which has a built-in cell-occlusive barrier, removing the need for a separate collagen membrane, provides a highly stable graft and typically produces 50  per cent new bone after 12 weeks.

EthOss® is a bi-phasic synthetic material made from a mixture of beta tricalcium phosphate and calcium sulphate and is completely free from animal or human content.

The built-in membrane function prevents soft tissue ingress and helps to dramatically speed up healing times, by allowing the periosteum (and the related blood supply) direct contact with the graft site. This means surgical procedures can be completed much more quickly and reliably, benefitting both patient and dentist.

Dr Costa Nicolopoulos from SameDay Dental Implants Clinic in Dubai is working with Sim Drug Store on bringing the material to the UAE.  Dr Nicolopoulos has been using EthOss® in his own clinical practice for several years before arranging the partnership.

Dr Nicolopoulos said: ““I’ve been using EthOss® for some time in my own practice in other countries and have found the material gives you consistent and extremely effective results.

“Working without a separate collagen membrane is a significant benefit to both the patient and dentist, so I’m really pleased to be working with EthOss® to bring this material to dentists across the UAE who I’m extremely confident will embrace this new technology”.

The multi award-winning British company brought EthOss® to the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) region for the first time at the AEEDC Dubai congress in February this year.

AEEDC Dubai is the MENASA region’s biggest dental show and second biggest in the world, attracting more than 50,000 delegates from 130 countries over three days.

Dr Paul Harrison, Managing Director of EthOss® Regeneration Ltd, said: “The UAE is an important strategic market for EthOss® as we continue to expand into new countries.

“Receiving regulatory approval is an important milestone – but we are delighted to have also found a partner in Sim Drug Store with the experience and track-record needed to successfully bring the material to market.

“As well as being the commercial centre for the region, the UAE is an emerging site for dental tourism. This is a really interesting and rapidly evolving patient-market, and we’re now looking forward to meeting the demand of those patients and their dentists in the region.”
