Mark Worthing

Hereford

Mark graduated from Cardiff Dental Hospital in 1994. He spent two years working full time in busy oral and maxillofacial units in Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend, South Wales, before working in general practice in Cardiff for a year. In 1997 he gained his Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of England (oral surgery), the same year that he joined his father in practice, in Hereford.

Mark has a keen interest in oral surgery and restorative dentistry, and has completed a number of implant courses in France, Ireland, Belgium, Holland and Sweden as well as the UK. He has also completed eighteen months of training in advanced surgical and prosthetic implantology at Sheffield University. In addition to this he has completed a three year training program in occlusion, and advanced restorative dentistry in the south of England.

Howard graduated for the Royal Dental Hospital, Leicester Square London in 1981 and has since been in general practice full time.
He has always had a keen interest in the surgical side of dentistry and was lucky to gain extensive experience working as an NHS dentist.

About 15 years ago when dental implants were just becoming mainstream Howard undertook extensive training. He soon developed a passion for dental implantology and took on more complex cases. Bone grafting is an integral part of implantology and following a meeting with Dr Peter Fairbairn, who introduced him to synthetic bone grafts over 10 years ago, he has only used alloplasts in his practice since.

Verena graduated from the University of Dundee in 2007 and obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2012, Verena began her higher surgical training in oral surgery in Manchester and she completed this four-year clinical and academic training programme with a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST).

Alongside her specialist training she gained a masters in oral and maxillofacial surgery and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy from the University of Manchester. She obtained her specialist membership in oral surgery in 2015 from the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and registered as a specialist oral surgeon with the General Dental Council.

Verena has been awarded a Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and served on the educational committee of the British Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, is a Board Member of the Manchester Medical Society and she has also worked with the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme on clinical guidelines. In addition to this Verena is actively involved in dental research and presently she is studying towards a Research Doctoral Degree whilst working in private practice.

Wasim has been involved in Implantology since 2008. Having completed his certification from Illapeo, he started his own practice in Ilford which he still runs today.

Since 2010, he was taken on to be a mentor for the NEOSS implant system, and started to regularly tutor dentists in the placement and restorative aspect of implantology. He has continued this mentorship until today where he now teaches all aspects of the NEOSS and NEODENT System.

Wasim completed his Msc in Implantology, and was also awarded the Diploma from the International Congress of Oral implantologists, and is now an accepted tutor for the MSc course in Goethe University in Germany.

Wasim started using EthOss in 2015, and has continually advocated its use in various institutions such as the Perio Academy and more recently in Germany. He has lectured on various topics in implantology, including augmentation techniques.

Jonny is an ambitious young implant dentist who has been placing and restoring dental implants for 5 years now, regularly performing all aspects of dental implant surgery; including staged bone grafting, sinus surgery, guided bone regeneration and immediate full arch implant bridges. He is particularly passionate about being able to rebuild his patients smiles; working in the aesthetic zone with immediate implant placements.

Jonny is the Principal of a 6-surgery, 9x dentist, private dental practice right in the heart of Bristol, open 7 days/week. He also places implants in High Wycombe and Bournemouth as a visiting dental implant surgeon and places over 300 implants/year, both bone and tissue level. He has recently started to become more involved with the teaching side of implant dentistry and relishes the unique challenges with which it presents.

Michael Ainsworth graduated from Birmingham University in 2002 and has been in private practice since that time. He became very interested in complex and cosmetic dentistry immediately, attending many courses and conferences both at home and abroad and started placing implants under supervision soon thereafter, completing a 1 year certification course in 2004.

Over the course of the last decade and under the mentorship of Peter Fairbairn he has developed a keen interest in streamlining techniques for the use of synthetic biomaterials in bone grafting, and soft tissue development.

In 2007 he moved to Spain to run a private practice. Since returning to the UK he has worked in a number of practices in Yorkshire and the West Midlands. He is currently undertaking an MSc in Periodontology and has limited his practice to dental implant treatments.

Dr Riz Syed qualified in 1999 at the Royal London Hospital and worked in the Oral Maxillo-Facial surgical department. Riz is both nationally and internationally respected as a lecturer and mentor in Implant Dentistry.

He also lectures for Nobel Biocare on a range of advanced implant techniques and is a visiting surgeon to numerous surgeries across London. As a mentor for Nobel Biocare, he has helped to train implant surgeons across the UK and is regularly consulted for treatment planning complex cases. He has trained in Europe and America and placed over a thousand implants. He is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dominic O’Hooley

Leeds

Dominic is a highly experienced implant dentist who has been placing and restoring dental implants for many years and undertakes all aspects including bone grafting, sinus surgery, guided bone regeneration and immediate full arch implant bridges. “I have a particular interest in working within the aesthetic zone, crestal sinus augmentation and immediate implant placements.”

Dominic lectures nationally around the UK, teaches for The Campbell Academy and regularly welcomes colleagues into his practice for mentoring.

Jersey

Andrew graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2006. He went on to do a two year speciality training programme at the Edinburgh Dental Institute, which involved rotations between different dental specialities and during this time he passed his MFDS examination and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons.

After GPT he worked as a member of the West of Scotland Oral and Maxillofacial team for two years. He continued within the speciality for a further three years in the North West of England. He was appointed a Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery and Restorative dentistry at Manchester Dental Hospital in 2012.

He has been involved with dental implants since his GPT years and in addition to his hospital based hands on training. Andrew is an elected member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons and the Association of Dental Implantology. He is active in postgraduate education both in teaching and learning and draws upon many years of hospital-based experience.
